This Saturday, Cage Warriors Academy Wales returns to Ebbw Vale for their eighth instalment.
The main event will feature two bantamweights looking to secure the vacant title.
The co-main will see Levi Batchelor’s return when he faces a tough test in the featherweight division. With yet another stacked card of talent, here are five fights for you to keep an eye out for.
Malaki Lynch v Cameron Brown
Here’s two fighters who will put it all on the line to make a statement this weekend. Both are names fans of CWAW will be familiar with.
Malaki Lynch fights out of Lions Den Gym and has fought all four of his amateur bouts in Ebbw Vale. His most recent fight ended in defeat against the rising Welsh talent, Ioan Thomas. Despite this, his aggressive fight style always makes for entertaining viewing.
Cameron Brown is a young fighter who is always looking to put on a show. He is a finish-or-be-finished sort of fighter. Doing a lot of his work with Draig, you can expect to see a polished ground game and high-level grappling. Don’t miss this one.
Lorenzo Armstrong v Harrison Coventry
This one will be interesting. Here we have two guys who are both capable of a performance of the night.
Firstly, Lorenzo Armstrong. Another rising amateur coming out of Celtic Pride Martial Arts. This featherweight is 2-1 and is looking to make it two from two wins in 2022. Like any Celtic Pride fighter, you can expect excellent kickboxing and a wide range of techniques.
Harrison Coventry is undefeated in his first two amateur appearances. Fighting out of Plymouth with Flo Martial Arts, the 21-year-old will do everything he can to keep his record unblemished. Don’t leave your neck open with this guy.
Frazer Hirsch v Morgan Lennon
Next we have a 198lbs catchweight bout. Two big guys who are always willing to put it all on the line. This is sure to be a good one…
Frazer “The Bulldog” Hirsch will make the trip down to South Wales from Results Gym Forfar in Scotland. The 37-year-old is the oldest competitor on the card and will bring an experienced record with him. An MMA record of 5-4, Hirsch hasn’t fought in MMA since 2020. Despite this, he’s continued training and competing in grappling tournaments. With several submission wins, you do not want this guy on top of you on the floor.
Morgan Lennon made his big return to fighting at Cage Warriors 142 on August 13th. After taking some time away from MMA, he picked up the round two submission in front of a large crowd. Securing an opponent for this card may not have been easy and that’s why he won’t let himself lose this one.
Expect nothing less than fireworks in this one.
Owen Pitcher v Brad Allen
Two Welshman putting their undefeated records on the line in a welterweight showdown.
Owen Pitcher made his MMA debut in October 2021 when he got the victory over Steven Lewis. The Newport-born fighter is ready to replicate those scenes one year on.
Brad Allen has had one of the best starts to your MMA career that you can have. His first fight came in March when he got the round one TKO finish. Just three months later he went 2-0 after a round two submission against Malaki Lynch. He carries a lot of flair and is sure to bring it once against on Saturday night.
Dan Kitchen v Jack Beazley
Both of these guys hold 3-1 records and both are capable of spectacular finishes. This one could get wild.
Dan Kitchen is riding a three fight win streak, all of which were finished via submission. Another product of Lions Den, the Englishman knows how to scrap and will always look to pile on the pressure. It will be interesting to see how he approaches someone with a similar skillset in Jack Beazley.
Beazley, a core part of Shore MMA’s team, will look to bounce back off his only defeat this Saturday. Jack is a high-level grappler who has no problems exchanging on the feet. He loves to take you down and will push himself to his limit.
This fight is intriguing and should be on everybody’s radar.
We will be covering the entire event right here on Combat Sports UK. Stay tuned for all the news and interviews.
