Interview With Aaron Bolton
Aaron, it’s fight week, and we haven’t seen you in over a year. How have things been inside and outside of the training environment? Are you mentally in a good space coming into GTFP 22 on Saturday night?
Yeah, it’s been a while. I visited Australia for a few months at the back end of last year and just took some time out to go and see a bit more of the world really, but since December, I’ve been home and been in the gym day in and day out and I’ve also been working with Rob from therapy with Rob, so I’m in a good space coming into this event.
A lot can change in a year. Your skill set could have come on leaps and bounds inside the gym walls. Just how much better have you got since your last outing in 2022?
I’ve been working a lot on all areas of my game just to really try and be the most all-round fighter that I can be, and I’m always looking to improve.
On that particular bout, you found yourself in the win column for the first time in your career after dropping your first two fights. Just how much did that mean to you to get that first win under your belt, and can you describe the feeling?
It was a good feeling to finally get the win and have something to show for the hard work I put towards each fight, but if I’m being honest, I was back in the gym the Monday after the fight just like I was after the first two fights so like I say initially winning the fight was a great feeling but the following week when you’re back to reality and back in the gym it’s just a number on a page.
Aaron Bolton Talks Ring Rust
Many fighters believe in ring rust, and others don’t. You’ve experienced long breaks between fights before. Where do you stand with that?
Yeah, it’s always a topic of conversation, but as you say, I’ve had long breaks between fights before, not necessarily because I’ve wanted too, but that’s just the way things have panned out, but I’m not putting too much emphasis on the time out I’m just glad to be getting back in.
Saturday night, you’ll lock horns with Prashant Rana, who is riding high on momentum after finishing his last two opponents. Where would you rank this fight as your toughest thus far?
Yeah, it’s definitely my toughest fight so far. He’s got experience, and as you say, he’s riding that momentum of the last two, so I’m not expecting it to be a stroll through the park.
Looking at his skillset and assuming you’ve watched tape. How would you match your skills up against one another? What do you see?
As I said, I’m always looking to improve and feel as though my skills in all areas have come on a lot compared to my last fight, so I’m prepared for the best version of him on Saturday.
Finally, what can those eager to see Aaron Bolton back in action expect to see from him on Saturday night in Wolverhampton?
Improvements.
