Adam Azim Rejects Opportunity to Fight on Ring Magazine Card
Super-lightweight Adam Azim has reportedly rejected the opportunities of multiple opponents on the Eubank-Benn undercard on April 26. Azim returns this weekend in his toughest test yet for the IBO World Title versus former IBF World Champion Sergey Lipinets in London.
Adam Azim rejects multiple opponents
However, despite Adam Azim fighting this weekend in his toughest test yet, he had been offered the opportunity to fight on the Ring Magazine show on April 26, if all goes well this weekend.
However, according to Matchroom CEO Eddie Hearn Adam Azim has rejected multiple different opponents for that card. Eddie Hearn in an interview with IFL TV stated that “Adam Azim turned down Sean McComb & Pierce O’Leary for the Eubank Benn card”. (16-0) Irishman Pierce O’Leary is the current WBC international lightweight champion. He is signed to Queensberry Promotions, coming off a devastating knockout win back in December last year.
The second opponent rejected was fellow Irishman (18-2) Sean McComb who faced a disgraceful SD loss to Arnold Barboza Jr last year in a fight that everyone saw Sean won. Barboza Jr is now set to face Jack Catterall in a world title eliminator. However, despite these two amazing opportunities for Adam Azim, his team rejected both fights.
There was one fight that was agreed upon, and that was with American Montana Love. However, due to changes from Love’s side, the fight didn’t materialise in the end. Ben Shalom did send multiple differing opponents to Turki for Azim. Turki rejected all as they weren’t deemed worthy enough.
Eddie Hearn then stated that a fight between McComb-O’Leary was agreed, and set to feature on the Apr 26 show. However, Ben Shalom took that slot on the card. He did so by adding Chris Billam-Smith vs Brandon Glanton to the card instead.
This is another negative spotlight on Azim regarding rejecting, and so-called ‘ducking’. However, a lot pin this on his team, and promotion Boxxer rather than Azim himself. Azim seems focused and ready for any challenge.
