Adam Game plans to “bring a pace” that Samuel Welch can’t keep up with at FightStar Championship 25.
FightStar will put on a special event as the promotion is set to mark its 10-year anniversary on Saturday, Aug.5. The fight card speaks for itself, with Raj aiming to make it one of the memorable shows. The fights will take place at the Indigo at the O2 Arena.
Ahead of fight night, we had the chance to talk with Adam Game, who was hunting a win to return to the win column.
Interview With Adam Game
Adam, you’re a week out from making the walk for the second time this year. How motivated and hungry are you to make things right this time around?
I cannot wait to get back in there and get back in the win column, I haven’t left the gym since my last fight, and I know I’ve levelled up leaps since then. I’m itching to prove that to everyone.
In your most recent outing, you lost the first fight of your career to Gary Rooney. In reflection, what went wrong, and how did you handle the defeat due to it being the first time?
Losing to Gary, as hard as losing is, is exactly what I needed to show what I had to work on and how to improve. Gary stuck to his game plan and was the better man on the night, but giving the number 1 in the division his toughest fight when he had triple the experience of me was still a good feeling, and I believe it proved that I belong. I handled the loss by being back in the gym on Monday and working, in my opinion, the only way to handle a loss.
Next Saturday FightStar put on an excellent event to mark its 10-year anniversary. How excited are you to be among the card and compete in such a great venue like the Indigo at the O2?
It’s an honour to compete on the 10th anniversary of Fight Star, and it being at the Indigo at the 02 is even better. FSC is definitely one of the best/highest-level shows in the country, so to be put on the card means a lot.
Game Talks Samuel Welch
Samuel Welch is the man you’ll meet in a flyweight contest. What do you know about your opponent, if anything, and how do you feel your styles match up against one another?
I like the match-up against Samuel a lot; I’ve seen small amounts of footage, but I don’t focus too much on watching my opponent; I focus on myself and let my coaches watch the majority of the footage; I know he’s a good fighter coming from a great gym, but I’m confident in my skill set and strength wherever the fight goes.
Samuel enters the cage with double the experience that you have. Do you envision that playing any factor on the night?
His experience makes no difference to me. I’ve already fought the number 1 with triple the experience I have.
At FightStar 23, Samuel put himself back into the win column in a big way. Did you manage to watch his previous fight back, and were you impressed?
I’m impressed with Samuel as a fighter and his last performance, but like I said, watching lots of footage is not something I trouble myself with. That’s for my coaches to do, and I just focus on my job, which is getting back in the win column.
To close up, can you just tell the FightStar audience what they are in for when you step inside the cage on Aug. 5?
I bring a pace that I don’t think many people can keep up with, I’m never in a boring fight, and I have the skill set and conditioning to match it. I hope they enjoy the show.
