In the UFC 295 main event, two hard-hitting titans went toe-to-toe in a bid to claim the light heavyweight title. Alex Pereira took on Jiří Procházka to decide who will become the 205 pound king.
Coming into this fight, Pereira holds a modest 8-2 record in MMA. Despite this, he rose through the UFC ranks quickly and defeated Israel Adesanya to win the middleweight title one year ago. Pereira also has a stunning knockout win over the current middleweight champion Sean Strickland. ‘Poatan’ now has the chance to become a two-division champion and cement an incredible legacy with this meteoric rise in the sport. His crisp, powerful striking makes him a problem for anyone in this division, and he will no doubt be looking for a big finish against his Czech adversary.
Jiří Procházka is a former champion at this weight class, but a shoulder injury forced him to vacate the title. He will be eager to regain gold against Pereira after almost a year and a half away, and remind everyone why he was the champion in the first place. Procházka is the more experienced fighter and holds a 29-3-1 record coming into this one. His fight against Glover Teixeira won fight of the year in 2022 after a back-and-forth, bloody encounter. Procházka dug deep to secure a rear-naked coke in the fifth round. He is an unorthodox powerhouse who throws strikes from all angles and is extremely hard to read. This fight promises to be violent and entertaining clash.
