Former opponents Alex Pereira and Sean Strickland have been training together in the lead up to July when they both compete next for the UFC. Frightening finisher Alex Pereira makes his UFC 205lbs debut against Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291 as he looks to bounce back from his KO loss to middleweight king Israel Adesanya. Controversial character Sean Strickland headlines a fight night at the UFC Apex on July 1st against potential prospect Abusupiyan Magomedov.
Alex Pereira Comments on Strickland’s Style
In a recent video on Pereira’s YouTube channel we can see the latest clips from training between the pair, Strickland travelled to Danbury and we can see him taking tips off former light heavyweight champion and now head coach Glover Teixeira. After spending some good time and sessions with the American ‘Poatan’ had this to say:
“This is my last day with Strickland. A tough guy. I was surprised with his high level on the ground. He surprised me. People say his style is kind of weird. People say that about me, too. After training with him, I’m starting to get it. They are things that work. He taught us some things that I’ll practice for sure because I saw that they are very effective.”

Sean Strickland’s Next Fight
Making his second appearance of 2023 Sean Strickland takes centre stage at the Apex once again. A dominant display in January stopped the two fight loss streak for Strickland and he looks to build on that victory against German Dagestani Abusupiyan Magomedov. With only one UFC fight the match up surprised fans but it is a huge opportunity for the UFC newcomer. In his recent YouTube video training partner ‘Poatan’ backed Strickland to win this fight mainly due to his persistence and conditioning. At No.7 in the division Strickland will be defending his spot and looking to push up the rankings. Additionally, he has not fought the champion who is looking for fresh meat at 185lbs so a statement performance will be vital to climb high into a contender spot.
Alex Pereira’s Next Fight
One of the scariest fighters to ever grace the octagon, Alex Pereira was caught in his last fight by vicious rival Israel Adesanya that landed an iconic KO in Miami earlier this year. A quick turnaround for the Brazilian now as he makes the step up to 205lbs at UFC 291 on July 30th. His opponent is the only other man to defeat Adesanya in his UFC tenure, Jan Blachowicz. The Polish beast handed Adesanya his first career loss in a 205lbs title fight back in 2021 but since then results have been mixed. One win, draw and loss make up his last three bouts all of which were 5 round main events.
The mouth watering match up sits as the co-main event on a stacked UFC 291 card in Salt Lake City, headlined by a violent rematch between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje. Fans have seen the paralysing power that Pereira posses at 185lbs undoubtedly this translates into his more natural weight class.
