Alex Pereria’s son can consider himself lucky after nearly being on the receiving end of a right hand from his father.
In a recent video doing the rounds on social media, the teenager attempted to prank his father in their home.
The Brazilian’s rise in MMA was complete after becoming the UFC middleweight champion after defeating long-time rival Israel Adesanya. After losing the belt in the rematch to Adesanya, Pereira moved to light heavyweight, where he found success by defeating Jan Blachowicz by split decision at UFC 291. The win moved Pereira to 5-1 under the UFC’s banner.
The prank video by Pereira’s son showed the youngster turning off all of the lights in their home and hiding behind a wall near the staircase. Pereira, who opened the door, turned the lights on and was met with his son in a costume. Pereira’s instant reaction was to take a fighting stance to fight the believed intruder.

After a successful outing in his alleged title-eliminator bout with Blachowicz, we’ve yet to get a concrete answer as to what’s next for the Brazilian striker. Pereira has been rumoured to get the next shot with the division’s title currently vacant. The likely opponent will be former champion Jiri Prochazka.
During his UFC run, Pereira holds notable wins over Andreas Michailidis, Bruno Silva, Sean Strickland, Adesanya and Blachowicz. Despite making his new home light heavyweight, the 36-year-old continued to tease a return to middleweight as long as Adesanya remained the champion. However, in a freakish turn of events, Adesanya lost his title for a second time at UFC 293 to Sean Strickland.
