Alex Pereira Attends Power Slap 10, Reacts to Heavyweight Title Fight and Dana White’s Controversial Promotion
During his stay in Las Vegas this week, the 37-year-old UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira attended Power Slap 10. This is where the main event featured a heavyweight title fight between Damien Dibbell and Dorian Perez.
Dibbell retained his title after a reportedly tough five-round battle, however, Alex Pereira wasn’t impressed. UFC Europe’s X account captured his unimpressed reaction, with ‘Poatan’ remaining stoic throughout.
When asked, “Chama or no chama?” Pereira briefly broke character, chuckling and responding, “No chama.”
Power Slap remains controversial, with many UFC fans and fighters questioning its legitimacy. Despite this, Dana White continues to promote it, even claiming it would one day surpass the UFC in popularity, likening its early criticism to the UFC’s early years.
Pereira Plans to Make Ankalaev Fight Harder: ‘Not Out of Fear, but Because of the Lies’
Alex Pereira is currently enjoying a break from the Octagon and is expected to defend his title against Russain contender Magomed Ankalaev.
Although the Brazilian has teased a potential fight with Jon Jones, which seems unlikely, Pereira has now accepted Ankalaev as his next challenger. However, he admitted he plans to make the fight more difficult for the Russian. Alex Pereira told MMA Junkie;
“It seems like Ankalaev is next, but I don’t know for sure. It’s not just up to me,”
“I’ve said before I’d make things harder for him—not out of fear, because everyone knows who I’ve fought. I’m not afraid of him, but I want to make it tough because of the lies that were told.”
Do you think Alex Pereira defends his title or will Ankalaev be able to cause the upset?
