Alexa Grasso put in a full 25-minute showcase to defeat Viviane Araujo via unanimous decision at UFC Vegas 62.
An extremely technical fight from both women. Grasso had the volume and put her combinations together with Devastating accuracy. Araujo has massive power and a solid ground game which she uses to break up Grasso’s rhythm.
Leading into the third round the fight plays out as it has the first two. This round Grasso begins to throw more kicks and finds relative success. Each defence remains tight and the fight is razor close.
The fight enters the fourth and the pace hasn’t slowed one bit. Both try to pull away but they’re so evenly matched bar some minor moments. Grasso seems to land more volume which begins to pull her in front.
Each corner is unsure of the scorecards and sends their fighters out to put a final stamp on the fight to potentially secure the win. Still disciplined, the fight goes the distance and Alexa Grasso takes the victory.
What’s Next?
Ranked #5 before this fight, taking out #6 will no doubt elevate Grasso even higher. Looking forward there are only two things that can be next for Alexa.
Either a number one contender fight or if circumstances suit, a shot at the gold.
