Belal Muhammad’s manager Ali Abdelaziz says that the UFC offered ‘the ultimate fighter’ coaching spots to Muhammad and Colby Covington but Covington declined the offer…
Last October Muhammad got a TKO victory over Sean Brady in Abu Dhabi at UFC 280. Since then Muhammad has been trying to get a fight but has been unsuccessful after calling out the champ Leon Edwards, Gilbert Burns, Colby Covington and Khamzat Chimaev. Earlier this week news broke that a fight is in the works between Covington and Muhammad as the finale for ‘TUF’
Earlier This Week the Schmo Interviewed Ali Abdelaziz Asking Him About This New Match-up and Having This to Say…
“The UFC reached out to me and said, ‘Belal vs. Colby, coaching “The Ultimate Fighter,” Abdelaziz stated in an interview with The Schmo. “We said yes. Nobody can find Colby. Nobody knows where he’s at. The last time I heard, he was at the UFC PI with four security [guards]. I don’t know why. Now [Jorge] Masvidal is fighting, I don’t know if he’s trying to sue Masvidal, trying to cash in, or trying to do what.”
He continued, “Fight or just leave the sport or get out of the rankings. Belal should be fighting for the title, to be honest with you. I don’t care what anybody says. Belal now, the UFC are very much saying that they’re working on the Colby Covington fight. This is the right fight and there’s no doubt in my mind that Belal beats him. He will fight the winner of Kamaru [Usman] vs. Leon [Edwards].”

How Does This Impact the Rest of the Divison?
The champion Edwards is scheduled to fight Usman in march so until then we need a no.1 contender in this fight and Gilbert Burns vs Jorge Masvidal will decide who fights for the next No. 1 contender fight once the very top of the division has sorted itself out. Covington hasn’t fought since March 2022 after beating Jorge Masvidal in a 5 round main event. During his lay off Masvidal allegedly assault Covington in a restaurant but since then we’ve heard nothing from him leaving a lot of questions about who would be next to fight the champion.
If this Covington v Muhammad fight doesn’t take place then you’d probably have to assume that if Gilbert Burns were to win his next fight against Jorge and Leon Edwards beat Kamaru Usman then Burns would probably get the next title shot as there isn’t really any truly clear cut no.1 contenders right now in the division.
