Former UFC heavyweight title challenger Alistair Overeem is in talks with ONE Fighting Championship to compete in Muay Thai Grand Prix.
Chatri Sityongtong recently announced that an open-weight Muay Thai tournament with a $1 million prize would compose 16 vastly different weighted men. With that prize money comes interest. Sidyongtong said that there are talks with unsigned fighters for the Grand Prix. Read more about ONE Championship announcements here.
Sityongtong said that there is interest in unsigned fighters for the Grand Prix. No fighters have been signed on for the tournament. If the former UFC fighter was to win the tournament, it would add one million dollars to his net worth, a tenth of what it is already.

“I would like to announce the greatest grand prix in the history of the sport of Muay Thai,” Sityodtong stated during the inital press conference. “One million U.S. dollars. Sixteen of the best strikers in the world will descend this year for one million U.S. dollars. Fans all over the world, tell me who you want to see.”
“This is an open-weight grand prix,” Sityodtong continued. “This is going to blow up. You’re going to see big guys against small guys, and it’s going to be huge.”

The former UFC heavyweight and title challenger have contacted ONE championship because of interest in the tournament. As of yet, there has been no deal reached, as reported by Nicolas Atkin of South China Morning Post.
It remains to see if both parties will strike a deal. If successful in landing a name like Overeem into the tournament, the ONE Championship President will be close to delivering his promise of putting on the best Muay Thai tournament in history.
