The reign of Aljamain Sterling continues as he dominates the fight before earning a second-round TKO against T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 280.
Not without controversy but it’s Aljamain Sterling who leaves UFC 280 as UFC Bantamweight champion. With a clear gameplay from the start, he takes the fight to the mat early.
Round One
As soon as the fight hits the mat it’s clear T.J. Dillashaw was in severe discomfort. Upon closer inspection, his left shoulder had become dislocated. Unable to defend as he would like, Dillashaw somehow managed to survive the onslaught and make it to round two.
On the stool, Dillashaw’s shoulder is popped back into place. A pre-existing injury, the ref was made aware of prior to the bout.
Round Two
Into round two Aljamain is now aware of the injury and begins to kick the injury. He soon gets the fight back to the ground, and it appears T.J’s shoulder is out again.
Despite the injury, Sterling remains ruthless and delivers a barrage of blows to force the ref to step in. Aljamain Sterling remains the Bantamweight champion via second-round TKO.
What’s Next?
Regardless of circumstances Aljo did what he needed to and was dominant with it. Still champion, his is the back with the biggest target placed upon it.
With a whole host of contenders lined up, Aljamain mentioned Cory Sandhagen, Chito Vera and Henry Cejudo as potential opponents.
