George Staines vs Aaron Givens goes down at the Metrodome in Barnsley on May 28th. It will be an amateur welterweight title bout for the ages as two of the very best in the country do battle on an already stacked card.
George Staines
George Staines comes into this one ranked as the best amateur welterweight in the UK, boasting an 8-0 record. At only 21 years old, the sky is the limit for the Hull-based prospect. More than even his perfect record, his opponent’s records are far more telling. 33-6 is the combined record, 49-9 if you include this upcoming bout. He has put a spot on four previously unblemished records and all by stoppage. Staines has spent most of his career in the Almighty cage and will be hard to beat come the night.
Aaron Givens
Aaron Givens is himself 10-3 and boasts a wealth of cage time to his name. Himself only 21, he has been competing since he has just 15. Having won his previous two outings in Almighty FC, he will be looking to use his experience there to walk out with the belt. Training out of Ace MMA, which currently has a roster in great form and is making great strides in 2022. Coming into this one of a very close split decision loss to the talented Oliver Tero, Givens will be raring to right the wrongs of his last fight.
The fight will be the last to take place on the twenty fight card as the main event and one of the most highly anticipated amateur fights in UK history. One thing is for sure. It won’t be one to miss.
