Amanda Ribas has predicted that she will knock out former strawweight champion, Rose Namajunas, at UFC Vegas 89 this weekend.
Amanda Ribas Predicts Knockout Win Over Rose Namajunas
The Brazilian will be headlining an event for the first time in her career on Saturday, and she is exuding confidence after her first ever knockout in the UFC over Luana Pinheiro four months ago.
In an interview with Stake.com, Ribas said:
“I think I can stop (Rose Namajunas) with my distance and striking, so I think that I will knock Rose out in the third round. I like fighting in the Apex because it’s a small cage and I am close to my opponent, but the lack of an audience is a bad thing. There really isn’t much chance of fans getting into the Apex either as they are reserved for special guests.
“I like the cage but then I miss out on having the audience there.”
Namajunas will not make it easy for Ribas, as the 31-year-old needs to get back on track following her two consecutive losses to Carla Esparza and Manon Fiorot in the space of two years.
Ribas Dreams Of UFC 301
In her interview with Stake.com, Ribas followed up her comments by stating her desire to appear on the card of UFC 301 which will take place in Rio de Janeiro, her home nation.
She said: “My manifestations for 2024 are simply being able to do in the Octagon what I do in the gym on a daily basis and to be consistent with my skills. I am training really well and just hope I can get this big win.
“I would love to fight at UFC Rio as well and I would like to get a bonus hopefully – Fight Of The Night against Rose.”
With the UFC heading to Brazil on the 4th May, a quick turnaround is ambitious. But limited damage and a stellar win over a big name like ‘Thug Rose’ could easily influence Dana White’s decision to make Ribas’ wish come true.
