Anderson Silva has revealed his training partners have knocked him out twice while preparing for his boxing contest with Jake Paul.
The MMA veteran will clash with the Youtuber-turned boxer this Saturday in Arizona. Despite being 47 years old, Silva has made a successful transition to boxing, attaining wins over former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Tito Ortiz, and Bruno Machado.
Silva was finished in boxing in the past by Osmar Luiz Teixeira in 1998 before returning to MMA competition. His team told the Brazilian striker that he needs to prepare for war with gruelling sparring and tough training sessions to leave victorious on 29th October.
Anderson Silva Reveals Sparring Incidents
“I’m training hard for win. I’m training with the good boxers of a high-level, and five guys have come to help me,” Silva told MMA Weekly when discussing his preparations to face Paul. “And in the last sparring with my partner, he knocked me out two times, and when I finished the training, I talked to my coach and I said, ‘Coach, let me tell you something, why have the guys knocked me out two times?’ And the coach said, ‘You need [to] prepare for war, and you will prepare for war.’”
However, Luiz Carlos Dorea, Silva’s boxing coach has played down what his fighter revealed, and assures Silva has the ability to take on the young, and hungry Jake Paul. Dorea told MMA Fighting: ““What I can say is that didn’t happen. Thank God we follow all the steps in training and Anderson did excellent sparring [sessions]. He’s 100 per cent for the fight.”
