UFC featherweight Andre Fili opens up on UFC London loss to Nathaniel Wood at the O2 Arena.
Fili and Wood shared the Octagon last night on the main card in front of a rowdy UK crowd. The fight went the distance, and it was one that delivered in a big way, with both men being rocked and being on the cusp of victory. The hometown fighter got his hand raised by a unanimous decision.
In the wake of the fight, Fili took to Instagram to raise his disappointment in the loss and the judges’ decision:
“I thought I won,” Fili said. “Judges didn’t. Fuck’ em. Colonizers can never keep a Polynesian boy down. Congrats to my opponent- fun fight. Onward & upward. Outcasts & underdogs. O&U forever. I love you all.”
In the past, Fili has expressed his disagreement regarding the judges’ scorecards. The last time was in 2018 when he lost a split decision to Michael Johnson. Despite giving Wood props for the fight, the same can’t be said for his post-fight rant when losing to Johnson,
“I WON that fight,” an angry up Andre Fili implored. “Plain and simple. My preparation was perfect and my performance was superior. The universe provides challenges and rewards us for the way we react to and navigate through them. All I’m going to keep focusing on is what I can control. I’m hungrier than ever and I’ll be back better than ever. Thank you to everyone who has my back, I love ya’ll. With that said, [Michael Johnson] you hit like a b*tch and you act like a b*tch. Nebraska state athletic commission can **** my giant Samoan ****.”

Fili fell to 22-10, 1 NC. However, still has a claim to being one of the more experienced guys in the division. The American is 2-4, 1 NC in his last seven outings. Meanwhile, Wood finds himself on a three-fight winning streak since moving to featherweight, with wins over Fili, Charles Jourdain, and Charles Rosa.
