The ex Heavyweight champion of the world Anthony Joshua has revealed plans to retire in two years.
Anthony Joshua has now had over 30 fights in his gruelling professional career and his body has taken the brunt of the attacks. The ex Olympian has now gone on a 4 fight win streak since back to back losses to Oleksandr Usyk, back in 2022 and 2021, and has looked back to his old self.
Anthony Joshua Has Planned Retirement Already
Despite his recent form in the ring, he has planned for the days where he wont step back into the four cornered battlefield. Speaking via the Jonathan Ross show.
I’ve always said 35 – I’m 35 in October. I’m thinking another two years or so, if my body holds out.
It also seems that promoter of Joshua, Eddie Hearn, agrees with him.
“I think he’s in the form of his life and enjoying his boxing more than ever. While you’re doing that, why not stay as long as you can? I think two years is about right. Hopefully he gets the winner of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk, then what else is there to do?”
Joshua has also used that potential Tyson Fury matchup as fuel to push himself further.
“100%. You take it personal and you meditate on it. You want to punish them for what they said about you… [Fury] is someone I want to compete with one day so everything he says, I’ve got it all stored in the back of my memory and when the fight happens I’m going to use it as a lot of fuel.”
It was also mentioned in the show that his next bout would be scheduled for September, rumoured to be a keep busy bout before facing either Daniel Dubois or Filip Hrgovic, both who are rumoured to face each other on the Matchroom Vs Queensbury card.
