Francis Ngannou, who recently parted ways with UFC, is seeking to make a name for himself in the boxing world. He has issued a challenge to Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, hoping to make his debut against one of them. In response, Fury has proposed a unique bout – a hybrid boxing match, with legendary Mike Tyson serving as the special guest referee. Joshua so far has not commented.
On the MMA Hour, Hearn said that “the Anthony Joshua fight is just probably one of the biggest fights that could be made across any kind of sport. Obviously, the Tyson Fury fight is there for him as well. I was pretty captivated by him. I’m not a massive MMA fan, but I respect what he’s done there… I think he should fight Anthony Joshua.”
Ngannou’s desire for higher MMA pay is well documented. This would undoubtedly be the highest payout of his career.
Anthony Joshua is reportedly set to face Jermaine Franklin in April. He is coming off back-to-back losses against Oleksandr Usyk. It will be the first time he is fighting without a title on the line since 2015.
Whether his fight with Ngannou will change his plans this year is to be seen. What we do know, however, is that it would be on of the biggest fights in combat sports history.
