This Saturday night, all eyes will be on London’s O2 Arena as Anthony Joshua makes his highly anticipated return to the ring to face off against Jermaine Franklin on April 1st.
AJ will be looking to once again put the heavyweight division on notice & make a statement as he aims to bounce back after suffering two defeats at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk. Meanwhile, Franklin, a rising star in the division, is hoping to establish himself as a legitimate title contender.
Despite his recent setbacks, Joshua remains one of the most popular and exciting fighters in the sport, just one win puts him right back in the conversation for world title shots and megafights with the big names of the division such as Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder. A defeat for AJ would be a major upset & a devastating blow to his career with the former champion hinting at a possible retirement in the event – although he has since clarified that these comments were more a reflection of what reporters and pundits wanted to hear rather than his own personal feelings.
A win for Franklin on the other hand would be life-changing, as the Michigan native has the biggest opportunity of his career. Franklin has just one loss to his name as he boasts a 21-1 record, with the one loss coming in his last outing in a close majority decision to Dillian Whyte.
