Almighty FC returns to The Olympia in Liverpool on Saturday, April 2nd, for an action-packed night of fights.
The Liverpool crowd always delivers with homegrown talent seeking to put a show on for those in attendance. On Tuesday, Almighty FC promoter Ray Thompson began announcing the first professional bout for the card.
After two years of inactivity, Team Kaobon’s Anthony O’Connor returns to the Octagon. He will meet a hungry Ole-Jorgen Mandt Johnsen, who will be looking to right the wrong after suffering his first professional loss.
A lightweight contest you don’t want to miss.
Almighty FC: Ole-Jorgen Mandt Johnsen vs. Anthony O’Connor
Norway native Ole-Jorgen Mandt (3-1) will hope to find himself in the win column on April 2nd after enduring his first pro-loss at Oktagon 17 in 2020.
The Norwegian hasn’t fought since after his round-one loss to Andrej Kalašnik in the Czech Republic. Before tasting defeat for the first time, Mandt’s full potential was on show when accumulating three straight victories. Two by first-round stoppage over James Dixon and Lucas Ghidelli, and a unanimous decision over Spain’s Carlos Zamora.
Anthony O’Connor (4-4) has been out of competition for some time and will be hungry to make up for the lost time.
O’Connor’s notable amateur record put the regional scene on notice. However, it hasn’t all been plain-sailing for the lightweight fighter. It’s been a pattern of inconsistency that O’Connor will be eager to break.
The Englishmen’s last outing occurred at Cage Warriors 117 when falling at the hands of Mike Figlak in round two. Previous to the defeat, O’Connor took Steven Hooper to the judges scorecards, winning a convincing decision.
Almighty FC 24 is an excellent opportunity for both men to find themselves back to winning ways after a long hiatus away from the sport.
