Arman Tsarukyan has gone on to social media to hit back at Michael Chandler. This was after the former Bellator lightweight champion stated last week that Tsarukyan made a big mistake when he turned down the Makhachev fight. Tsarukyan was offered a shot at the UFC lightweight belt in the immediate aftermath of his victory over Charles Oliveira. However, Tsarukyan turned the fight down.
Arman Tsarukyan was able to get the victory over Oliveira at UFC 300 which saw him jump over him in the UFC rankings. This took Tsarukyan to become the number 1 contender. The Armenian was then asked to face the champion in the main event of UFC 302 however, declined due to it being a quick turnaround. Islam Makhachev will instead face Dustin Poirier who accepted the fight which has left Tsarukyan back waiting for his opportunity.
Arman Tsarukyan Fires Back at Michael Chandler
Michael Chandler went onto The MMA Hour and told Ariel Helwani that he didn’t understand why Arman Tsarukyan rejected the opportunity. However, Arman Tsarukyan has since responded when he went onto Twitter and posted;
“I don’t expect you to understand Michael Chandler. We are not on the same level. I am here to be the champ. You are just waiting for a paycheck. I also don’t understand why you waited Conor fight for 2 years, you could’ve lost 4 exciting fights during that time”
Michael Chandler will be fighting Connor McGregor next after the fight was announced. The two will be fighting during International Fight Week on June 29th. The two fighters were coaches on the last season of The Ulitmate Fighter. While Arman Tsarukyan will be hoping he will get the next title opportunity. Will Arman Tsarukyan get the next opportunity to fight for the title after Makachev or Poirier? Will Tsarukyan get his hands on the championship next or will he be unsuccessful?
