Arman Tsarukyan was able to be successful when he took on Charles Oliveira at UFC 300. However, while clinching a split decision victory we aren’t talking about his fight. We are talking about his altercation with a fan while he was walking out.
Arman Tsarukyan Attacks Two Fans at UFC 300
As Arman Tsarukyan was walking out for his scheduled fight against Oliveira at UFC 300, the cameras were able to catch him landing a punch against someone in the crowd. He didn’t just lunch at one supporter but two as he attacked a second fan later on. UFC commentator Jon Anik described the incident on camera by saying:
“Couple of dust-ups there DC with fans. Looks like Arman Tsarukyan getting into it with somebody on the way in tonight.”
Daniel Cormier also added on the broadcast:
“Yeah it’s crazy to see him do that. You want to be so locked in. That has to be something that matters to Arman.”
While Arman Tsarukyan got in an additional two fights before his actual fight against Oliveira he didn’t allow this alternation to get the better of him.
The lightweight contender scored a split decision victory (29-28, 29-28, 28-29). This win has put the Armenian in a prime position to face the winner of Islam Makhacev or Dustin Poirier when they compete for the 155 belt. Makhachev already has a win over Tsarukyan from back in 2019 when Tsarukyan was making his UFC debut.
Tsarukyan and Dana White Statement
Speaking after the fight at the UFC 300 post-fight press conference Tsarukyan was able to shed some light on the altercation. Arman Tsarukyan explained that the fan accosted him and made an offensive gesture towards him. Arman Tsarukyan explained to Jed Meshew at MMAFighting;
“He showed me ‘F*** you’ and he wanted to punch me and I wanted to punch him back,” Tsarukyan said. “That’s it. So guys, no one show me ‘F*** you.’ It doesn’t matter who you are, I’m going to punch you in the face. You can show me ‘F***’ from like 200 meters, I’m not going to punch you. But when you’re close to me, it’s, like automatically, I’m from Russia. Don’t do that, please, or I’m going to go to prison in U.S.”
Dana White has warned fans that holding onto fighters as they are walking out for their fights is not the best of ideas. He also commented that he didn’t doubt that the UFC would be facing legal action because of this incident. Dana White Explained;
“Yeah, you may not want to hang over the things and grab people while they’re walking out. These guys are all f***ing piped up and whatever. I’m sure, we’re probably gonna get sued. We’ll deal with that on Monday too.”
