The past year saw Arnold Allen’s undefeated decade come to a close, courtesy of a tough fight against Max Holloway. However, the resilient fighter has a chance for a comeback at UFC 297 this Saturday. History seemed to call out to Allen teasing a potential title shot if he could overcome Holloway. The dreams of becoming the next British UFC champion were briefly postponed, but Allen seems determined.
This Saturday in Toronto, Canada, Arnold Allen faces the Russian Movsar Evloev. Evloev is an undefeated fighter boasting a record of 17 wins and no losses. Allen has his mind clear and is on a mission to rise above the defeat of Max Holloway.
The clash between Allen and Evloev is anticipated to be the weekend’s standout matchup. It is capturing the attention of fight fans alongside the headline showdown featuring Strickland defending his title against Du Plessis.
Arnold Allen vs Movsar Evloev
The road ahead could be tricky for Arnold Allen if he fails to bounce back, but his laser-like focus on the task at hand indicates a strong determination.
‘I haven’t really thought about anything other than beating this man. I’ve been laser-focused for four months, they gave me a year’s notice. The UFC just sent you a name and a date: yes or no, that’s how they work and it was a resounding ‘yes’ from me.” Allen told Mail Sport.
Arnold Allen boasted an impressive record for ten years without experiencing a single defeat before encountering Max Holloway. Despite putting up an excellent performance over five rounds. Allen fell short in that encounter and Holloway won the match by decision.
“It’s not really different at all, it was a matter of going back to the gym, back to the drawing board and training the same way as always, There were some positives I think I took from the Holloway fight, but it sucks no matter how you spin it.”
Despite the tricky customer that is Mosvar Evloev, the Brit is confident he’ll pass the test with flying colours:
“I’ll have to be on my A-game and be a complete MMA fighter to go in there and show what I’m capable of. I’m going to go out and dominate.”
UFC boss Dana White recently announced Max Holloway is set to face Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 for the BMF title. Gaethje won the BMF title by knocking out Dustin Poirier at UFC 291.
The Toronto stage is set for Arnold Allen’s comeback narrative at UFC 297, where his focus on defeating Movsar Evloev symbolizes a fighter’s ability to rise above adversity.
