Arnold Allen has said that he disagrees with the result of the UFC 284 main event. Islam Makhachev defeated featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski by unanimous decision to retain his lightweight title.
A win for Volkanovski would’ve made him just the fifth UFC double champ in history, but it wasn’t to be for ‘The Great’. During an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Allen said he believed the Australian did enough to defeat Makhachev and earn the illustrious champ-champ status.
He said: “I scored it for Volk – rounds two, three and five.
“He’s inspirational, everything he does is what you want to see in your champion.
“The things he says after about not being afraid to fail, going out there and taking the opportunity. Yeah, you can’t not respect that guy.”

Allen to Face Max Holloway in Kansas City on April 15
The featherweight contender will have his own chance to get into title contention when he faces Max Holloway in Kansas City on April 15.
The Suffolk man is on a 12-fight win streak dating back to 2014, with his most recent win coming over Calvin Kattar in October. His resume also includes victories over Dan Hooker, Sodiq Yussuf and two-time lightweight title challenger Gilbert Melendez.
The 29-year-old spoke on his upcoming fight with ‘Blessed’.
“He’s only human right? The damage has got to catch up to you.
“He’s not much older than me but he has been in a lot of crazy fights against top-tier athletes and he’s given a lot of damage but he always takes as much as he gives as well.
“What you’re expecting from me is probably what I’m going to say.
“I’m expecting the best version, I’m preparing for the best, [and] I’m training for the best.”
