After a three year hiatus, the UFC finally returns to London with a stacked card already in store for the MMA faithful. Headlining the event will be a heavyweight showdown between Alexander Volkov and England’s Tom Aspinall. Also featuring on the card, Ipswich’s Arnold ‘Almighty’ Allen is set to face his most formidable opponent yet in Dan Hooker.
Unbeaten in the UFC, Allen is on an impressive eight-fight win streak. Last time out, he defeated Sodiq Yusuff back in April of 2021.
Currently placed seventh in the Featherweight rankings, Arnold Allen will be welcoming Hooker back to the 145-pound division. The New Zealand native had a stint spell at Lightweight but dropped down to test his luck against the featherweight’s finest.
Why UFC London Is Arnold Allen’s Chance to Shine
It’s fair to say that London is calling for Allen. ‘Almighty’ may be gutted that he isn’t the main event. With that being said, he’ll be itching to get back inside the octagon and showcase his potential to the MMA faithful, and most importantly, Dana White.
Hooker will be aiming to jump the queue with a win against Allen. However, a win for ‘Almighty’ could open up so many doors.
In April, Alexander Volkanovski is set to defend his title against ‘The Korean Zombie’. It looks as if Max Holloway will face the winner of that fight.
Therefore, it looks as if Allen may need another fight after Hooker before he can throw his name into contention for the belt.
When thinking about what’s next for Allen, two opponents come to mind. Should he win against Hooker, and they are Yair Rodriguez and Calvin Kattar.
We recently saw Kattar in action against Giga Chikadze. As for Rodriguez, the Mexican put in a great display against Holloway but just fell short.
With so many potential options to look forward to, Allen’s upcoming fight with Hooker is his chance to increase his stock and establish himself as a top contender in the featherweight division.
