Arsenal are considering a ban that would stop their players from interacting with ‘corporate guests’ following an incident last week involving Conor McGregor.
The Emirates was visited by Conor McGregor last Tuesday, where the former UFC champion was in attendance for Arsenal vs. Paris Saint-Germain. Upon 90 minutes, Arsenal had beaten the French team 2:0.
After the match, McGregor took to the pitch where he was met by Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka. The unlikely trio had a kickabout and conversed before the UFC star took photos with both men.

Whilst taking photos with Saka, McGregor threw leg kicks at the England star before starting to grapple him – all of which was done jokingly.
Although Saka seemed to be caught off-guard by the physical interaction, he laughed the situation off, telling McGregor to “be careful” after they disengaged.
The Irishman was then asked to return to the stands due to a ‘high level of concern’ over his willingness to throw kicks (though in jest) towards one of Arsenal’s most valuable players.
According to The Times, McGregor had no formal permission to go onto the pitch in the first place, which has sparked a formal investigation.
As a result, the club are considering changing the rules that permit players to interact with fellow celebrities after matches.
Past Offences
McGregor has a bad track record when it comes to throwing punches outside of the Octagon.
Only last year was the UFC fighter seen hospitalising ‘Burnie’, Miami Heat’s mascot. In a pre-planned skit, McGregor hit the beloved costumed creature twice, leading to him being dragged off court.
‘Burnie’ was sent to the emergency room, however was soon being released with pain medication.
In perhaps the more infamous incident, McGregor assaulted a man seated in a pub back in 2019. The man, Desmond Keogh, allegedly declined a drink offered by the fighter, which led to him being struck.
As a result he was convicted of assault and fined €1,000.
These previous instances are likely what have worried the Arsenal officials so much. Saka, who is reportedly on a £60 million contract, is one of the club’s most valued players. Any injuries or damage sustained would have been literally priceless.
