Currently flying high at the top of the Premier League with Arsenal. Rob Holding has hit back at the UFC president Dana White for his comments labelling football, or soccer for some, the “least talented sport”.
Dana White Slams Footballers Abilities
As the 2022 World Cup in Qatar enters the quarter-finals as the last eight teams look set to battle it out. It’s the talk of the globe as each nations fans back their own.
One man who isn’t impressed and certainly doesn’t have the football fever is UFC president Dana White. In a recently resurfaced interview from a few years ago. Dana had some harsh words for the sport and those that play it.
Here’s what he had to say all those years ago.
“I’m not a big hockey fan, but I respect how talented you have to be to play hockey. Soccer? Whole other ball game. Can’t stand soccer, I think that it’s the least talented sport on earth. There’s a reason three-year-olds can play soccer ok? You run around and kick a ball.”
He continued. “You wouldn’t say that if you were in Brazil.’ Dude, I’d say this in any country ever. When you’re playing a game where the net is this big right, and the score is 3-1, are you s**ting me right now? Do you know how untalented you have to be to score three points when the net is this big?”.
Rob Holding Fires Back
With football’s prevalence right now due to the World Cup. The clip has been taken to social media and blown up to the ire of many. One man who took a particular dislike to the statement was Arsenal and England defender Rob Holding.
Taking to Instagram the professional football star had this to say in response to Dana White.
“Least talented sport. You think of how long other sports, involving a ball, are in control/contact with the ball. In baseball, a pitcher holds the ball with their hand and controls which type of spin and speed they use as they throw, same with a QB and a basketballer when they pass or shoot. A footballer has less then a second of contact with a ball to make it go a certain way, and oh yeah, that’s with their foot.”
While simultaneously dispelling Dana’s nonsense, Rob Holding manages to slight other sports that the UFC president is a fan of.
It’s unclear whether White still feels this way about football, but with his comments catching the eye of many professionals it’s only a matter of time before we find out.
