Young Welsh prospect, Befan Hall, will compete in his first amateur title bout on March 25th at Cage Warriors Academy Wales 9. Hall will take on Tallon Jones in a rematch for CWAW gold. The first meeting ended with Jones coming out on top. This time, Hall seeks revenge.
Preparing for Gold
The Welshman, who is a product of Shore Mixed Martial Art’s growing roster of young talent. Confidence is at an all-time high and the fact his next fight will be for the title isn’t scaring him one bit. He said: “a lot of people would be a bit scared at the thought of fighting for gold, but not me. I know what I’m capable of and there’s no way I’m leaving Ebbw Vale without that belt.”
With regards to his preparation, nothing has changed when it comes to mindset. “The belt doesn’t change anything. Every camp is 100%. I’m a better version every time. I’ve had much more experience since the first meeting. Flying overseas and beating a top American wrestler who was being raved about. I went out there and out-wrestled him.”
Rematching Tallon Jones
Undefeated prospect, Tallon Jones, works out of the MAT Academy in South Wales and, like his opponent, will be experiencing his first shot at an MMA title. Jones defeated Befan Hall via triangle choke back in December 2021. Most recently, he beat Rhydian George via an impressive decision performance.
Speaking on Jones, Hall stated: “don’t get me wrong, Tallon is a phenominal fighter, but do I think he’s on my level now? No. I’m leagues above every 125lb fighter at the moment. If anything, I’m expecting a better version of Tallon Jones, but I’m just gonna be too much for him on the night.”
Shore MMA
Everyone is beginning to understand why this gym is being talked about so often at the moment. The skillset of the guys training at Shore Mixed Martial Arts is incredible. Speaking on his gym, Befan explained why it is one of the best around. “The guys at SMMA are the best guys out there. We are the best gym in Europe and soon we will be up there with the best in the world.
“Sparring with Brett Johns, Jack Shore, Levi Batchelor and everyone else on a daily basis, improving every area of my game, learning from their different styles. There is no better gym out there.”
The card which goes down on March 25th, will, as usual, feature a great many of the SMMA guys and girls. Headlining the event will be Levi Batchelor, as he aims to win the vacant featherweight title.
Path to Victory
Given the heavy wrestling styles that both of these guys possess, you can expect a lot of interesting takedowns and heavy grappling approaches. But either way, Hall only sees one outcome: “I see this ending one way, with my hand raised. I will be the CWAW flyweight champion. I see the fight as me being too much for him in every area. I will finish him, where that’s on the feet or on the ground.
“I know I’m going to finish him, it’s just choosing where I want to do it. Because, he’s gonna fight my fight and my pace, I can tell you that right now.”
Looking further down the line and focusing on what’s to come in 2023, the youngster aims to have a very active year. “I see myself as active as last year. I’m going to win this belt in March, then I’m gonna fly out where ever the IMMAF’s are, pick up that gold medal and defend my belt as many times as me and my coaches decide.”
