Recently crowned UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad says things got physical between him and former champ, Kamaru Usman.
Undefeated in his last 10 fights, Belal Muhammad’s first title defence is on the horizon. The stacked welterweight division has seen several fighters step forward as next potential title challenger.
One of these fighters is Kamaru Usman. The former welterweight champion has lost his last 3 fights in a row, however his name still holds considerable merit. In addition to being the no.2 ranked welterweight in the world, he pushed the touted Khamzat Chimaev to the very brink at middleweight.
Muhammad recently filmed an episode as a guest for the Pound 4 Pound podcast – hosted by Usman and Henry Cejudo, where tempers allegedly flared.
Details of Pound 4 Pound Appearance
Talking on his own podcast, Remember The Show, Muhammad gave insight into his upcoming guest-spot.
“They’re all looking up. I saw on a podcast with [Umar] Nurmagomedov and Usman on that podcast that kind of sucks, Pound 4 Pound. He [Usman] said ‘I’m the man in charge’. It was funny to see. That podcast kind of sucks, but they do have some good guests on there, right?”.
Despite having finished filming, the episode is yet to be released on any streaming platforms. Muhammad continued by casting doubt on whether or not it would be released, before touching on the altercation.
“We made an appearance on there, it was fun. I’m hoping they bring out the episode.”
“I’ll say this. They’re not very good at talking, so I think I verbally broke down Usman. I think he got emotionally broken so he tried to get physical! But, when you try to get physical with the champion, there’s levels to this.”
Depending on what actually occurred during filming, it remains unknown whether or not we will see what played out.
Regardless, it appears that Muhammad now has both Shavkat Rakhmonov and Kamaru Usman in his sights for that first important title defence.
