Belal Muhammad has a strong feeling that Leon Edwards and his team are feeling the pressure ahead of their UFC 304 bout.
The highly anticipated welterweight title fight between Muhammad and Edwards is set to headline UFC 304 in Manchester, England, this Saturday. Recently, Muhammad had a run-in with Edwards and his entourage in an elevator. He observed that Edwards’ coach, Dave Lovell, was the only one in the group who seemed to be stirring up trouble. Muhammad is hopeful that Lovell will show up at the press conference.
Belal Muhammad Believes UFC Champion Leon Edwards Is Intimated Ahead of UFC 304
Muhammad shared his thoughts with MMAjunkie.com, saying, “I just saw him right now in the elevator. He looked like he was afraid. Him and his brother and his coach, they all look like cowards. His coach was trying to talk a little bit of trash, so I’m hoping that his coach is at the press conference, because I know Leon’s not gonna be able to talk.”
Muhammad recounted that while he was with another teammate, Edwards arrived in the elevator with a group of six or seven people. Despite being outnumbered, Muhammad decided to stay calm. He felt that if the situation were reversed, Edwards would have acted differently. Muhammad exchanged some sharp words with Lovell and noticed Fabian Edwards giving him a strange look. Overall, Muhammad found the entire group unsettling.
The Bad Blood
Muhammad continued, “We were in the same elevator. They were a group of like six or seven guys, so they thought they’d be tougher or whatever. But me and my boy Max could always hold anything down. I was already on. He wouldn’t be confident enough to stay in the elevator if my group was walking in. He would walk out. For me, we stayed on. They thought they were gonna be cooler or try to be tougher, but I smelled fear… Leon didn’t say a word. His coach was talking, but he just has a weird, stupid accent, and he kind of sounds like he has autism or he’s slow. So, I don’t know what he was saying, but he didn’t sound smart at all.
“We were going back and forth with his coach, not even with him. But then his brother was giving me like a weird look in his eyes. They just look like a weird group of guys. If you saw them walking down the street, you’d be like, ‘Bro, those guys, they got issues.’”
