Vadim Nemkov and Corey Anderson collided in the Bellator sphere for the second time in seven months last night at Bellator 288.
The pair met seven months ago in the Light Heavyweight Grand Prix finale, and unfortunately for Anderson, the bout ended a no-contest due to a clash of heads. Anderson was in control of their first meeting and looked to be on his way to attaining the $1 million prize. The rematch unfolded slightly differently.
Nemkov got the decision on the judges’ scorecards after five rounds. Anderson wasn’t able to utilise his wrestling credentials throughout the fight. On one occasion, the retaining champion sent Anderson to the canvas by throwing a spinning wheel kick that clipped the former UFC vet.
Overall, a night to forget for Anderson.
Bellator 288: Vadim Nemkov vs. Corey Anderson Highlights
After 25-minutes of battle, Nemkov walked away AND STILL with a convincing unanimous decision victory. He also added the $1 million prize fund to his bank account after being crowned the Grand Prix winner.
Despite just competing last night, the champion will have no rest, as it was announced Nemkov would defend his belt against Yoel Romero in the co-main event at Bellator 290 on Feb.4.
