Bellator is back in Ireland for one of their biggest cards of the year. Welterweight champion Yaroslav Amosov takes on interim champ Logan Storley in one of the biggest Bellator rematches ever. See here for our Bellator 291: CSUK Staff Predictions
Bellator 291
Welterweight Title – Yaroslav Amosov vs Logan Storley
Amosov vs Storley is a very interesting fight. Storley only has one loss to his name – Yaroslav Amosov. Storley, mainly a wrestler, failed in his attempts in their first fight to work his game plan. He lost his decision over 3 rounds. Since then Storley has beaten one of the biggest names in Bellator and MMA, Michael Page in London.
Amosov is 26-0. He comes into this fight the reigning champion. Whilst he has not fought since 2021, his ability cannot be denied. I think the fight will be closer than people think, and nobody is being counted out, but I see Amosov taking this one.
Staff picking Amosov: Billy Darlington, Patrick McCorry, Ella Earle, Lewis Simpson, Dan Evans
Staff picking Storley:
Featherweight – Pedro Carvalho vs Jeremy Kennedy
Pedro Carvalho, the Portuguese striker who trains out of SBG, takes on the wrestler Jeremy Kennedy. Carvalho is coming off the back of a win over Mads Burnell, which is a win everybody would be happy with. Bellator have been advertising this fight as Carvalho’s title eliminator, so it will be interesting to see if he gets it.
Despite Carvalho’s win over Burnell I think Kennedy takes the win. I can see him being too much to handle for Carvalho and see him taking a decision win.
Staff picking Carvalho: Patrick McCorry
Staff picking Kennedy: Billy Darlington, Ella Earle, Lewis Simpson, Dan Evans
Lightweight – Peter Queally vs Bryce Logan
Peter Queally’s last two fights against Bellator royalty Patricky Pitbull and MMA legend Benson Henderson did not go his way. Despite that, he will be the big home favourite, and having the crowd behind him will spur him ahead heavily.
Bryce Logan is 0-3 in Bellator. If he manages to fight through the noise of the crowd and potentially play into it, he has a chance. If not, Queally takes this with relative ease.
Staff picking Queally: Billy Darlington, Patrick McCorry, Dan Evans, Lewis Simpson
Staff picking Logan:
Featherweight – Sinead Kavanagh vs Janay Harding
A rematch, Sinead Kavanagh takes on Janay Harding attempting to climb the small division that is Bellator women’s featherweight. Harding currently holds the win with a doctor’s stoppage five years ago in 2018. In all likelihood, this means very little.
Kavanagh will have the crowd behind her tonight and I think, particularly, with the Irish, that will have a massive effect. This should be an easy night for Kavanagh, all things considered.
Staff picking Kavanagh: Billy Darlington, Dan Evans, Lewis Simpson, Patrick McCorry
Staff picking Harding:
Catchweight – Ciaran Clarke vs Leonardo Sinis
Irishman Ciaran Clarke is 6-0 in Bellator. As a contender fighting in Dublin, he will have only winning convincingly on his mind and will use the crowd to his advantage. Sinis, however, is not a fighter to count out. He is on a two fight win streak and will be looking to upset Clarke in front of his hometown fans.
One of the more exciting fights on the card, Clarke is without a doubt the favourite for the scrap. Sinis absolutely has a chance, and will put the pace on Clarke as an experienced fighter, but will likely fall short.
Staff picking Clarke: Billy Darlington, Dan Evans, Lewis Simpson, Patrick McCorry
