Interview With Ben Singleton
Few weeks out until you dance under those lights again. How’s the headspace as we close in on July 15?
My headspace is exactly where I want it to be, im extremely excited to show all the hard work I’ve put in leading up to the fight, and I can’t wait to show all the improvements I’ve made to my game since my last outing.
For the readers who will be being introduced to you for the first time. Can you give them a brief background on yourself and your journey into Kickboxing, and ultimately why Kickboxing?
So initially, I started off in amatuer boxing, where I had a few fights out of a gym called ST pauls ABA. But eventually, I got bored of just being able to punch and wanted to test myself in other combat sports. That’s when I started training under Stu Graham at Hitsquad Hull, which is where I started my kickboxing career as a way of developing my striking skills before I decided to take the leap to MMA later this year.
Ben Singleton on Kickboxing Past
Four kickboxing fights, 2-2. How would you sum up your kickboxing career thus far? Are you happy with the progress you’ve made?
So far, as you stated, im 2-2 as a kickboxer, only losing to title holders. Although I’ve made exceptional progress in my game in a short period of time, I’d really like to claw my way back to title contention level and eventually win a British k1 title which is something I know I’m capable of doing. In terms of my style, I’d say I’m an exciting pressure fighter who is guaranteed to bring fireworks each and every time I’m in there.
Mike Walters is the man who will try and kick you off the path of the momentum you find yourself on. Do you know anything about your opponent? If so, what do you expect him to bring on July 15?
I’ve studied my opponent very closely, and I expect him to be strong at kicking range but struggle when it comes to medium and close range. He’s an experienced fighter. After competing in multiple mma fights, k1 fights and above-the-waist Kickboxing, therefore I’ve made sure to leave no stone unturned in my preparation for this fight.
BMF
You’ve fought on BMF before, but give those attending a teaser of what they can expect to see from you on fight night.
Just like my last fight on BMF, those in attendance can expect to see three rounds of non-stop pressure and aggression from myself and, like always, resulting in an absolute banger.
To close out, do you have any last words for your opponent, and can you give the readers an official fight prediction?
In terms of last words for my opponent, I wish you the best of luck, but I will not be beaten. And I predict a 3rd round tko/ko for myself.
