Former middleweight champion Michael Bisping is not dismissing the possibility of WWE legend Brock Lesnar making a comeback to MMA at UFC 300.
Lesnar, who famously headlined UFC 100 against Frank Mir in 2009 and secured a victory over Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in 2016, has been absent from the Octagon since then. However, ‘The Count’ believes Lesnar, despite being 46 years old, could return for UFC 300 on April 13. The event currently lacks a main attraction, and UFC President Dana White has teased something significant.
During a recent discussion on his YouTube channel, Bisping shared his thoughts, acknowledging that Lesnar’s age might raise eyebrows, but he emphasized that fighters have competed at older ages, especially when substantial financial incentives are involved.
Michael Bisping Envisions a Heavyweight Showdown at UFC 300
“UFC 300, will we see Brock Lesnar on there again,” mused Bisping. “It sounds stupid because Brock Lesnar is no spring chicken. He’s 46 years old, but remember Randy Couture fought on to the ripe old age of about 47.”
Bisping, known for his candid opinions, continued by highlighting Lesnar’s drawing power and the shared ownership between UFC and WWE’s parent company. He speculated that negotiating any potential hurdles would likely be manageable.
While UFC President Dana White has already dismissed Lesnar’s return at UFC 300, Bisping floated the idea of a headline-worthy matchup: Brock Lesnar vs. Tom Aspinall. The British MMA icon dubbed Aspinall, the interim heavyweight champion, as the ideal opponent for Lesnar, especially given Aspinall’s current search for a rival.
“Call me crazy. Call me Tom Aspinall’s number one fanboy, but could you imagine Brock Lesnar vs. Tom Aspinall headlining UFC 300?” Bisping exclaimed. “Maybe it’s just wishful thinking. But Tom Aspinall-Brock Lesnar, that would just be mental. That is the type of thing I think the UFC are going to do.”
Despite White’s stance, Bisping’s speculation has ignited excitement among MMA fans, introducing the concept of a heavyweight super-fight, Aspinall vs. Lesnar, which may not have been on the radar until now.
As the UFC 300 lineup remains uncertain, the speculation surrounding potential headliners continues to grow, especially with Conor McGregor’s return slated for June. The prospect of Lesnar stepping back into the Octagon adds an intriguing layer to the unfolding narrative of UFC 300.
