UFC’s newest star in the making Bo Nickal moves to 4-0 and delivers on a first-round finish promise at UFC 285 proving the hype is real.
Round 1
Bo starts with a kick attempt that misses wildly and sees him slip to the canvas. He uses this as an opportunity to try a takedown but Pickett defends well. The defence doesn’t hold up for long and Nickal drags the fight to the canvas.
Now on the mat, Nickal has the neck in a guillotine but Jamie Pickett defends. Once again Nickal explodes and locks in an arm triangle choke, and holds it for over two minutes.
After holding strong for so long, Pickett sees no escape and is forced to tap. 2:54 seconds was all it took.
What’s Next?
His credentials on the ground are unquestionable, and his talent is clear to see. However moving forward the UFC do not need to rush Nickal, as he’s surely a star in the making. At only 27, taking his career step by step and presenting him a new challenge fight on fight seems like a smart move.
A Sean O’Malley-esque rise could see Bo fulfil his superstar potential. As seen with O’Malley, slow and steady can win the race. With no names in mind, it would be a good close to take a fighter with UFC experience under their belt.
A fighter coming off a win would give Nickal a great opportunity to springboard his career and hype even higher.
