Bobby Green has responded to Tony Ferguson‘s eye poke accusations. During their fight at UFC 291 last weekend, Green landed an eye poke that Ferguson deemed intentional. “I believe he knew what he was doing when he poked my eye,” said Ferguson on Instagram. The incident happened in the first round, and Green went on to win the fight via arm triangle submission with only six seconds left in the bout.
Bobby Green Responds to Eye Poke Accusations
In an interview on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, ‘King’ hit back at Ferguson over the accusations. “Tony said I intentionally poked him,” said Green. “There’s a narrative that I intentionally poked him and that threw his momentum off, and from there the fight went my way. I disagree with that. I felt I was doing so much more than that the entire fight. What I’m saying is, if you argue with a crazy man then you’re probably crazy, so I’m not going to argue with him.”
“The other side of it, I feel like I’m sad. I’m sad because it’s a mark on my body of work. It saddened me that it now puts all this different lack on my set of skills. I truly believe skills pay the bills,” he continued.

Intentional or not, Green walked away with his first submission win since 2013 when he made his debut in the octagon. This victory may be marred somewhat by the eye poke and the claims made by Ferguson, but after two losses in a row before a no-contest against Jared Gordon, the 36-year-old is back to winning ways.
As for Ferguson, this was his sixth loss in a row. There was a time when ‘El Cucuy’ seemed invincible after putting together a 12 fight win streak, but he took the beating of a lifetime against Justin Gaethje at UFC 249, and since then he has looked like a shadow of his former self. At 39-years-old, his time in the UFC is surely coming to an end.
