Chris Eubank Jr vs Liam Williams – Third Time’s a Charm
Chris Eubank Jr (England) vs Liam Williams (Wales) was originally scheduled in December. Liam Williams, unfortunately, had to pull out with a shoulder injury, and the fight was pushed back to January 29th. Due to an announcement by the BBBofC, the bout between Eubank Jr and Williams had to be put on hold again.
For the third time, and hopefully, the last, Chris Eubank Jr vs Liam Williams has been rearranged. This will kick start what will be an epic month of boxing for the UK.
A month has nearly passed since the British Boxing Board of Control announced suspending boxing in the UK. BBBofC stopped boxing for the whole month of January 2022. This decision was made to allow doctors and medical experts to prioritise their work within the NHS to tackle the covid-19 pandemic.
Wales has recently announced that indoor sporting events can resume. The twelve round middleweight contest will take place on Saturday 5th February at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff. This is a great 50/50 domestic fight and one that the UK boxing fans should be excited for.
World Title Contention?
Former IBO super-middleweight world champion Chris Eubank Jr is now ranked as the number one middleweight in Britain. Liam Williams, who is ranked at number two, will be looking to take that top spot come February 5th. Liam Williams lost to WBO middleweight world champion Demetrius Andrade last year via unanimous decision. A win for either fighter would put them in a prime position to challenge again for a world title in 2022.
Do not miss this long-awaited domestic showdown. Chris Eubank Jr vs Liam Williams on Saturday 5th February will be shown live on Sky Sports with the broadcasted undercard kicking off at 7:30 pm.
