Interview With Brad Masterton
Brad, it’s fight week, and you’re all set to make your second walk to the cage as an amateur. Talk me through the feelings you’re feeling now as opposed to your debut fight week. Is anything different?
There isn’t much difference compared to the last fight week. The only real difference is that I’ve already done this before, so I know what to expect. As for how I’m feeling, I feel that I’m in great shape and that I’m ready for the task at hand.
Making your debut at Forza just last month, was the plan to always remain active and kickstart your MMA career, gaining as much experience as possible as quickly as possible?
The plan was always to be as active as possible so that I could gain a lot of experience in a short period of time; it also allowed me to stay ready and to take any fights at any time. With my debut only happening last month, I’ve just been in camp since then, allowing me to keep in fight condition and to sharpen some of my weaker areas.
Brad Masterton on Debut at Forza
Closing on your debut, how did you find the experience and overall, how did you view your performance?
As for my debut, I feel that it went to plan almost perfectly. I made a couple of small errors on the ground, but as soon as I got the mount, the fight was over, my team and I practised the exact fight ending sequence backstage minutes before the fight, so the game plan worked perfectly.
How many can we expect to come and support you on fight night, and what do you aim to deliver for them this Saturday?
I have around ten to fifteen people supporting me on Saturday night, from family and friends, they can expect a fast start, and I can promise them that I will take no steps back, aggressive pressure from the start.
Callum Seaton is the name and face in front of you this weekend. He’s just had the one-fight where he suffered a round-three loss. Have you had the chance to watch that back? If so, what do you think?
I have watched Callums fight, and I see a determined fighter who will give his all. Unfortunately, it won’t be enough. I see too many holes in his game that I will be more than happy to exploit. I saw a lot of his bad habits in his last fight, things that, if he does in our fight, will be punished.
Finally, leave us with your official fight prediction and any last words for Callum before you lock horns.
My official prediction for this fight is the same as the last, take his back and another first-round sub. And Callum, you better be ready for war.
