Brandon Royval is hungry for another shot at flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja, and he’s not holding back his desire to get back in the Octagon with him.
In a recent matchup, Royval stepped up on short notice to replace Amir Albazi, who had to withdraw due to injury. Despite the last-minute call, Royval put on an impressive performance in the five-round headliner against Brandon Moreno, ultimately securing a split-decision victory inside Mexico City’s Arena CDMX.

After the fight, Royval didn’t waste any time in expressing his intentions, especially with Pantoja sitting cageside. Fired up and determined, Royval boldly called out Pantoja, making it clear he’s ready for another showdown.
“I’m a fcking gangster. I’m the realest one in this flyweight division,” Royval declared in an interview with Paul Felder. “Everybody wants to grapple me all day. Speaking of grappling, I hear Pantoja’s in the building. Let’s run that sht back motherfcker. Ain’t no motherfcker holding me down ever again. I’m going to people’s house and I’m taking their fcking sht. All day, every day. Brandon ‘Raw Dog’ motherf*ckin’ Royval in the building. Westside!”
Royval has faced off against Pantoja twice before, with Pantoja emerging victorious on both occasions. Their first encounter was at a Fight Night event in August 2021, where Pantoja secured a submission via rear-naked choke in the second round. They met again two years later in a flyweight title bout at UFC 296 in December, with Pantoja winning by unanimous decision.
Given Royval’s previous losses to Pantoja, some may question the merit of a third fight between the two. However, with the UFC in need of fresh contenders in the flyweight division, Royval presents a compelling option.
