Fabio Wardley and David Adeleye feature on the Fury vs. Ngannou undercard in October but it appears that the pair aren’t willing to wait.
Wardley is scheduled to defend his British heavyweight title against Adeleye on the 28th of October in Saudi Arabia. The pair were in attendance for Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou‘s press conference in Riyadh to announce their fight.
However, with tensions already building between the pair, seven weeks is apparently too long.
Fabio Wardley & David Adeleye Erupt
Whilst being interviewed by Radio Rahim TV, Wardley was interrupted by a clearly angered Adeleye. ‘Big D’ marched straight towards Wardley as he was being interviewed. As the pair got face-to-face, Adeleye snapped and pushed Wardley. Members of both teams jumped in to split the pair as they tried to get at each other.
Enraged by Adeleye’s actions, Wardley tried to get back at his rival. He escaped the clutches of his team and ran at Adeleye. A video emerged showing a member of Adeleye’s team dropping Wardley with a punch. However, further videos have shown that Wardley tripped over something on the floor and was already on his way down as he was caught by the attempted haymaker.
The Aftermath
The fact that these two were even allowed to get so close to one another was a clear breakdown in planning. The two have had a dislike for one another for some time, with both men taking digs at the other in recent times.
It was always going to be a lively encounter when these two came face to face. The situation could have been handled a lot better. In the aftermath of the brawl, Wardley was seen to have a cut on his face. It is not yet known whether the cut will derail the planned fight date. If the cut is but a mere scratch then it will have no effect. If it is more serious and requires stitches, it would leave the British champion unable to spar. With only seven weeks until fight night, it may now mean that the fight needs to be pushed back.
The Real Fight
Taking the handbags out of the equation for a moment. The actual fight between Fabio Wardley and David Adeleye is a must-see. The champion, Fabio Wardley, comes into the bout with a perfect 16-0 record. He has just one of those victories via decision, which came in his first professional fight over four rounds. Since then, Wardley has stopped everybody he has faced within six rounds. Wardley holds stoppage wins over fellow Brits, Nick Webb and Nathan Gorman as well as two-time world championship challenger Eric Molina, albeit, the artist formerly known as.
His opponent, David Adeleye has also shown his power and potential. ‘Big D’ also has a perfect record of 12-0. Again similarly to Wardley, he has only one points win which was over the ever durable Kamil Sokolowski. Again, Adeleye has a tendency to get his opponents out of there nice and early.
The fight sees two British prospects step-up in competition to challenge one another in a case of the right fight, at the right time. Both are flying high, their confidence is through the roof and neither man will have any intention of taking a backwards step.
Tyson Fury may well be having a circus show in the main event but rest assured. This is a real fight. Let’s just hope there is no delay due to their clash at the press conference and we can find out who the best heavyweight in Britain is on October 28th.
