After their huge pay-per-view success in London with UFC 286. The company is looking to return with a second show in the English capital in the summer. Details are few and far between as of right now. However, Michael Bisping via his YouTube channel has confirmed the UFC is set to return to London on July 22nd.
Michael Bisping Talks UFC London for July
Speaking on the recent online beef between Paddy Pimblett and Jared Gordon. Michael gives his thoughts on the who, what and where of the situation. Near the end of his eight-minute video, it appears Bisping let slip UFC London is coming in July.
Talking about why Pimblett isn’t fighting Bisping says: “He can’t fight anyone right now because he is injured. He’s had surgery. It’s going to be a few months.”
Before following up with “UFC London July 22nd, I would like to see him [Paddy Pimblett],”
He continued “We’re in March, April, May, June, July. It’s four months away. It’s going to be a while before he’s back to full speed.”
With the event yet to be confirmed, Bisping words are currently the biggest indication the event will happen. If we try and take a closer look at other evidence for the event there are quite a few points of interest.
Further Evidence UFC London is Likely in July
2022 saw the UFC hold not one, but two major fight night events in London. The first of which was their annual March show which has been a staple of the schedule since 2017. The first London show of 2022 was a huge success and was even in contention for the show of the year.
This show along with the huge pool of up-and-coming British talent, including the likes of Paddy Pimblett, Paul Craig and Tom Aspinall among others. Saw the higher-ups make a second trip to London in the year. This second show took place on July 23rd. This aligns perfectly with the rumoured July 22nd card set for this year.
Another key factor to take into consideration is the schedule of UK-based promotion Cage Warriors. Cage Warriors has been a huge part of the growth of UK MMA for almost 20 years. Housing a platform for future talents to showcase their skills. The likes of Conor McGregor, Arnold Allen, Paddy Pimblett and Michael Bisping have all fought in the yellow gloves, to name a few.
When the UFC does come to London one of the best parts of the weekend of MMA is the Friday Cage Warriors show. These accompany the UFC’s London cards, taking place one night before. On the schedule of Cage Warriors which has been announced for the entire year. A London card is ready for Friday, July 21st. Giving us fans an indiction UFC London might take place the very next night.
