England vs USA happens in two different sports on Friday. UK’s Brendan Loughnane travels oversea’s to face American Bubba Jenkins at MSG in the PFL championship in the 145lb division.
Although there seems to be no bad blood between the two fighters, it is a guaranteed clash of the featherweight elite in a battle for a one-million-dollar prize.
Brendan Loughnane
The Englishman was once an up-and-coming prospect fighting for a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series. Things didn’t go to plan for Loughnane at first but a PFL contract changed everything for him. The fighter has gone 7-1 inside the promotion and is coming off arguably his most impressive win to date.
The win over Chris Wade in August got him a place in the PFL championships. Following the win, Loughnane’s next opponent Bubba Jenkins entered the cage to make somewhat of a promotion for their upcoming bout. However, with zero animosity, the two almost seemed like friends in the cage and remained extremely professional ahead of this massive bout.
Now 25-4, the 32-year-old has become one of the PFL’s biggest attractions and will only get bigger with a win over Jenkins at MSG.
Bubba Jenkins
Similar to Loughnane, Jenkins has become a big draw for the PFL. Signing for the promotion in 2020, Jenkins has picked up an impressive five victories with only one defeat. After beating Ryoji Kudo in May, Jenkins waited to see if his opponent would be a former foe in Chris Wade or an underdog of the bout Brendan Loughnane. The Manchester local beat Wade to cement himself as the other PFL finalis
Although Jenkins’s only defeat came via the hands of Chris wade, the man Brendan Loughnane beat for the finalist spot. The American still believes he is the favourite. As anybody would be, Jenkins is desperate to get his hands on the million-dollar prize and staple himself as one of the PFL greats on this special night for the Professional Fighters League.
Official Prediction: Brendan Loughnane defeats Bubba Jenkins via unanimous decision.
