Brogan White Interview
Hi Brogan, How are you feeling a week after the big win?
Good!, Thanks, mate. It feels great to get to eat what I like again. Fight week was hard but was all worth it!
It was your first time in there, how did it go in your book?
It went well in my eyes. My biggest battle was getting in there. That was the hardest part for me. Once I got in there, it was game on! I would have liked to use my striking a bit more, but I can’t complain about a first-round finish!
You looked calm and assured in there. Your gym, Team Renegade, has a whole bunch of great talent around your weight. How much does that help prepare for your first fight?
Yeah, I tried to not rush my work. It’s hard once you are in there to be calm and calculated, but I’m sure it will come in time! Team Renegade is the best team in the UK in my eyes. We have so much talent there, such as Leon Edwards, who is next up for the UFC welterweight title. Head coach Tom Breese has improved my ground game massively, and all the other lads have helped me prepare with sparring rounds. Not only has Team Renegade got four fighters in the UFC, but lots of fighters in Bellator and other leading organisations. Very honoured and privileged to train with these killers and learn from the best in the business.
From what we got to see in the fight, you look comfortable both on the feet and in the grappling department. Is your background MMA itself, or did you start in another martial art?
I first started boxing when I was 12. I had six amateur bouts for Willenhall ABC. Unfortunately, though, I came away from it as I got older. It wasn’t until I was about 17 or 18 that I started MMA training. Nothing serious, just two times a week as a hobby. As soon as I started grappling, I loved every aspect of it. Then over the years became more serious with it. I was soon training twice a day instead of twice a week.
How quickly are you looking to get back in there?
I’d like to get back in the cage as soon as I can. I really want to stay active and have another 3-4 fights before the years out.
Thanks for the time, Brogan. We will end off with what fight are you most looking forward to at UFC London?
UFC London is a stacked card, and I can’t wait for all of the fights. There are some really good matchups, but the fight I’m looking forward to the most is Jai Herbert vs Illa Topiura. Watching Jai in the gym seeing how sharp he is and how hard he works is very inspiring. To think he was putting scaffolding up while collecting World titles in Cage Warriors is crazy. Very inspiring, and I feel very privileged to be able to train with him.
So who do you want to see Brogan White take on next?
The Big Three
Favourite Fighter: Petr Yan
Favourite Fight: Michael Bisping Vs Anderson Silva
G.O.A.T: GSP
