Jordan Vucenic and Paul Hughes lock horns as they replay their epic clash at Cage Warriors 145. Nearly two years have passed since their first meeting in December 2020.
Vucenic (9-1 MMA) looks to defend his Cage Warriors featherweight championship against Interim champ and previous opponent Paul Hughes (8-1 MMA). Arguably the biggest rematch in Cage Warriors history, Vucenic vs Hughes II, comes two years after their first bout, which saw Vucenic edge out a close split decision victory. He would then win the Cage Warriors featherweight title against Morgan Charriere.
His championship reign began with injuries, costing him a rematch with Charriere. Eventually, the door was left open for an interim fight between Charriere and Hughes. Hughes took home the interim championship by majority decision. Cage Warriors booked Hughes against Vucenic for March 2022, which fell through due to Hughes dealing with a neck injury. Vucenic would defend his title against last-minute replacement James Hendin with a standing rear naked choke in the second round.
The epic matchup two years was one of the greatest fights Cage Warriors has ever put on, making fans rabid for another matchup between the two featherweights. The excitement is building, and the tension is palpable; both fighters are arguably ready for the big leagues, and both put more than just the unified championship on the line. A win here is arguably a ticket to the UFC for the victor, leaving the matchup with huge implications.
The co-main event pits welterweights James Sheehan (5-2 MMA) and Jamie Richardson (11-7 MMA) in a sure crowd-pleaser. Next, former flyweight champion Luke Shanks (10-3 MMA) continues his conquest at Bantamweight against Caolan Loughran (6-0 MMA) in a contest with future title implications. Finally, former UFC competitor Modestas Bukauskas (11-5 MMA) returns to Cage Warriors at light-heavyweight against Bellator veteran Lee Chadwick (28-16-1 MMA).
