Tomorrow evening at 4:30pm is set to mark the beginning of Cage Warriors 158, an event headlined by a monumental Flyweight title bout between champion Shaj Haque and challenger Michele Martignoni.
The main event was made official just a few hours ago, as a heap of the promotion’s talented roster took to the scales before they enter the octagon in under 24 hours.
Haque will be entering enemy territory as he takes centre stage on Saturday. The 32-year-old is coming up against Italian all-rounder Martignoni in his hometown of Rome, who will certainly be backed by thousands of his fellow countrymen in his quest to become a two-weight world champion.
‘The Italian Thunder‘ vacated his Bantamweight title following an impressive unanimous decision win over now-PFL athlete Dominique Wooding last October at Cage Warriors 144.
This will be Haque’s first defence of the 125 lbs belt. ‘Superman‘ overcame the experienced Sam Creasy via a stunning third round knockout to become Flyweight champion on New Year’s Eve at Cage Warriors 148.
Today’s weigh-ins saw little drama in terms of fighters missing weight, with the only additional time being granted to promotion debutant Florian Doskja, who came in 0.2 lbs overweight for his 130 lbs catchweight bout against Amir Malekpour.
The 32-year-old was allowed another two hours to weigh-in correctly, which he managed successfully.
