Britain’s worst kept secret in MMA Luke Riley steps into the Cage Warriors cage for quite possibly the final time at CW 178.
The BEC Arena is a staple venue in the Cage Warriors calendar and it always brings violence and highlights in the yellow gloves. Last night CW 177 delivered with eight finishes on the nine fight card and tonight we can hope for a similar spectacle.
Ones to Watch
Headlining the card is an emerging talent out of the Next Generation Gym in Liverpool, Luke Riley. At 9-0 his pro record is immaculate and the highlights are outstanding. After a missed opportunity on Dana White’s Contender Series this month due to visa issues the prospect aims to make it 10-0 at CW 178 instead. The successes of Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann in the UFC brought a spotlight on the gym and a plethora of talent has been uncovered to the MMA world. The likes of current Cage Warriors bantamweight champion Liam Gittins, Oktagon lightweight superstar Shem Rock and new UFC featherweight Nathan Fletcher to name a few. Alexandre Junior is coming in for his Cage Warriors debut hoping to steal the shine.
Th rest of the card features unbeaten prospects hoping to make their mark in the infamous yellow gloves. Welshman Ieuan Davies is 5-0 and in the co main event against a battle tested veteran Amaury Junior. The Brazilian has had 27 professional bouts and shared the cage with big names in Adam Cullen and Brendan Loughnane. Davies has a 100% finish rate and has only been out of the first round once. MMA Fight Academy proteges Joe Fields and Jack Humphries both make appearances in Manchester as the aim to maintain their unbeaten records and continue their impressive CW careers. One of Ireland’s top prospects is welterweight Dara Ward makes his second Cage Warriors appearance of the year.
