With Cage Warriors Academy Wales 10 fast approaching, here is a breakdown of some exciting fights to keep an eye out for!
Some interesting fights are set for the Cage Warriors Academy Wales event June 10th. With an array of talent stacked through the card, here are a some fights you just won’t want to miss…
Aivaras Gaciauskas vs Elis Westacott
Elis Westacott made his return to cage warriors academy Wales in March 2023, winning via KO in round one. This impressive victory brought his current amateur record to 4-1. As Elis inches closer to title contention, he must first get past Aivaras Gaciauskas, a highly talented kickboxer making his way through the rankings. Gaciauskas’ last victory was over James Wamsley, a former title contender himself. This fight is one to watch as whoever wins here is likely to be fighting for a title next. With current champion Roan Crocker moving up to the light heavyweight division, it opens the landscape to new contenders. With high stakes for both fighters, this is not one to miss!
Roan Crocker vs Farshad Nazarania- Light heavyweight championship fight
Roan Crocker makes his anticipated return to cage warriors academy Wales June 10th. However this time, he will be moving up and fighting in the light heavyweight division. Roan gained a silver medal at the IMMAF world championships earlier this year. He now has light heavyweight gold in his sights. To solidify double champ status, he must firstly get past Farshad Nazarania. Farshad is currently on a 3 fight winning streak with two finishes. If Roan wins here, he becomes two division champion as he grows closer to a professional career debut. However, if Farshad emerges victorious, he propels himself up the rankings and cements himself as a force to be reckoned with in the light heavyweight division.
Hayleigh Heather vs Lauren Woolf
Hayleigh Heather vs Lauren Woolf fits potentially the most exciting stylistic match up in MMA, striker vs grappler. Lauren Woolf is a K1 champion, but her grappling is not to be underestimated. A recent promotion to blue belt in BJJ has shown her to be a very well rounded mixed martial artist. Hayleigh Heather has experience on her side, with six MMA fights on her record. She is also a highly experienced grappler, regularly competing in BJJ tournaments. Both fighters are coming off a winning streak of one. This fight is one to watch as both will be coming to prove themselves to be the best in the division.
Kane Darcy vs Kunle Lawal
Another striker vs grappler showcased on this card, and it takes the featured undercard spot. This fight has all the makings of the winner becoming a number one contender for the title. Kunle Lawal recently lost to now champ Jay Aspinwall at CWAW 9. Kane Darcy beat Lorenzo Parente at this event via second round submission. If Kane gets past Kunle here, he will likely fight for gold next. However, Lawal provides no easy feat for Darcy. With experience going the full distance 7 times so far, he has showed his endurance and technical skills consistently. A win here for Lawal will most likely provide him with a second shot at the title. This is not one to miss!
