Cage Warriors have recently announced they have added five permanent members to their ever-growing roster. With a whole host of impressive talent already signed to the promotion, they have added some more. Some who CW fans might already have seen compete have returned, being given a contract. Others have competed at the highest level and have made their way to the UK promotion to compete in the famous yellow gloves.
Gavin Hughes
Gavin Hughes is an English lightweight who fights out of Liverpool. Looking to replicate the form of some of the other Scousers who have made their way through the promotion, Gavin has set his sights high. Most recently he competed in Bellator where he fought three times.
With a record of 10-3, Hughes is currently on a two-fight skid. Looking to reinvigorate his career the 34-year-old has found the perfect home to do just that. A true finisher who has only seen one win go to the judges he will be an excellent addition to the roster. With four KO/TKOs and five submissions, Gavin is another must-watch fighter in the CW lightweight division.
Bogdan Barbu
Bogdan Barbu might feel like a familiar name for Cage Warrior regulars. That’s because he competed for the company very recently. Taking on Daan Duijs at CW 137, Barbu was unsuccessful, losing via first-round triangle. However, the management must have seen promise in the Romanian as they have signed the bantamweight to a contract.
A wealth of fighting experience has seen Bogdan compete in a plethora of European MMA organisations, From RXF to KSW, with all this experience his record currently sits at 17-13. Another exciting fighter for the bantamweight division, of his 17 wins he has finished 12.
Orlando Prins
Like Bogdan, Orlando Prins made a Cage Warrior appearance very recently. He fought at CW 138 one night after the Romanian. Also coming away with the loss, the 3-1 fighter will look to make the most of his contact and get back to winning ways in the promotion.
Fighting out of the Netherlands, the Dutch fighter competes at featherweight. With three victories under his belt, all three have come by way of submission. This is no surprise to those familiar with Prins who specialises in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu department.
Festus Ahorlu
Born in Ghana but representing England, like the previous two fighters, Festus has a CW fight under his belt. Also a loss, it took place in the co-main event of last months CW 140 event. A young hungry competitor who can only learn from the loss it isn’t a surprise he has been signed.
5-1, at bantamweight. He definitely bolsters the already impressive 135 lbs division. All five of his previous fights were for UK-based promotions and his first three were all won via TKO.
Wilson Reis
A huge signing for the company. Wilson Reis has competed at the very highest level and has been within touching distance of UFC gold. Last competing in San Diego for Cage Warriors US expansion at CW 133. He has now been tied down to a multi-fight contract with the promotion keeping him with them for the foreseeable future.
The Brazilian has a wealth of experience and a record of 25-12. He has competed in three different weight classes, flyweight, bantamweight and most recently featherweight. Regardless of which he chooses to compete in, he will be a big star name and will surely bring eyes to any show he is a part of.
