The 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off today in Qatar. The opening game will see the hosts take on Ecuador in group A. Given the worldwide support that the World Cup gets, we thought we would ask a hand-full of Cage Warriors fighters who they think will win the tournament.

The Cage Warriors flyweight champion defended his title, most recently, back in August against Stipe Brcic. He is scheduled for yet another title defence on New Years Eve against former foe, Shajidul Haque.

“The Italian Thunder” shocked fans in Rome in October when he defeated Dominique Wooding to become the bantamweight champion. Martignoni impressed everyone in the fight by showcasing his heart and his determination.

Madars Fleminas is never in a boring fight. The “Latvian Express” has not gone to a decision in two years and has always been pushing for Cage Warriors gold. Most recently, he was beaten in Rome via a round two submission.

“Judo” Jimmy Wallhead is truly a veteran of British MMA. The 38-year-old set up a legacy fight with Rhys McKee when he captured the interim title in his last outing agaisnt Mateusz Figlak. Now holding a record of 32-11, Judo Jimmy will go down as a legend of the sport.

Oban Elliot
The Welsh Gangster himself, Oban Elliot is on a roll right now. Riding an impressive three fight win-streak, Elliot is continuing in his push for the coveted title shot. The Welshman has only tasted defeat twice but has always gone out on his sword.

Caolan Loughran
Undefeated Irish prospect, Caolan Loughran is arguably the next in line for a Cage Warriors bantamweight title shot. After three round two TKO victories in a row, it’s understandable why Loughran is pushing hard for the next shot at gold. In his last walk to the cage, he finished former champion, Luke Shanks.

Nathan Fletcher is a hell of a prospect, holding a record of 6-1. His only defeat came when he took on Dominique Wooding for the vacant title in 2021. He is set to face Alessandro Giordano on New Years Eve at CW148.

Chris “The Bad Guy” Bungard has certainly been around the block over the years. The Scottish competitor has fought with several promotions, including Bellator. Tonight, he goes for Cage Warriors gold at CW147.

Here’s a fighter who really is an inspiration. The Welshman and cancer survivor, with cystic fibrosis has defied his life expectancy twice. Inside the cage, his record stands at 13-6-1, with his two most recent fights ending in defeat. However, a fighter as skilled as Aby is never too far from fighting for a title.

Matty Byfield
Team Renegade’s Matty Byfield is looking to make it back-to-back victories tonight at CW147. The light-heavyweight got a huge KO victory last time out against Szymon Szynkiewicz. Tonight, he will take on Daniel Ladero.

Next, we have another Cage Warriors veteran who always puts it all on the line. Josh Reed has been fighting with the promotion since 2016 and has always been involved in exciting fights. “Crazy Horse” will look to get things back on track after two defeats against Luke Shanks and Ryan Shelley.
