UFC Middleweight contender Caio Borralho calls on the UFC bosses Dana White and Hunter Campbell after an impressive UFC Vegas 96 victory
Caio “The Natural” Borralho made a statement last night at UFC Fight Night Vegas 96. He beat crafty veteran Jared “The Killa Gorilla” Cannonier in a unanimous decision victory.
The two went strike for strike in the early rounds. But in the final minute of the third round, Caio turned up the heat.
A big one, two put Jared on wobbly legs forcing him to flee till the end of the third round. “The Killa Gorilla” recovered fast winning the fourth round and opening a deep gash under the right eye of Borralho.
However the same one, two of Caio would repeat itself at the end of the fifth, stiffening Jared and sending him crashing to the mat. The referee Dan Miragliotta arguably could have called the fight off, but Jared would cover up and see out the rest of the fight.
Beating #5 ranked Cannonier means come Tuesday Caio will sit amongst the upper echelon of the Middleweight division. Finishing a tricky fighter in Cannonier proved Caio Borralho’s quality.
In the words of Borralho following his victory: “I just want a meeting with Dana.”
Caio Borralho Makes an Ambitious Request to UFC Bosses
Now surely due to be ranked top #5 in the Middleweight division this coming week, Caio Borralho has his sights set on the top. He does not seem keen on any eliminator fights either.
In his octagon interview following the victory, he said:
“The mantra of this training camp was to show the new champ arrived, and I think I showed that a little bit. If I’m not the next one, at least when there’s a conversation about who’s the next one, my name is gonna be around there. I know that.”
He went on to tell reporters after the fight:
“I just want a meeting with Dana. I think I deserve a meeting with Dana, you know? I always see all those guys go inside his room. Have a meeting with him, Hunter (Campbell), all those guys, you know? I want to be one of those guys.”
Proud of his performance Caio feels he has silenced the doubters that believed he was just a grappler.
He added:
“I think it takes me to one of the best in the world,” Borralho said. “I’m top five right now – at least, I deserve a top-five spot on Tuesday. I think I proved myself as one of the best in the division, that I can strike and not only grapple.”
A dominant win against a game opponent, what will be next for Caio “The Natural” Borralho?
